Hartlepool Borough Council is delighted to be supporting Hartlepool Heroes which aims to raise awareness of and reward those within our community who go the extra mile to help others.
Hundreds of nominations were received ahead of the showpiece event which will be held at Hartlepool Borough Hall on Thursday, July 7th.
And voting is now open for the People's Choice award, with the link provided below.
Councillor Shane Moore, Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council said: “Many people have faced significant challenges over the past two years and the response and support from the people, communities and organisations of Hartlepool has been amazing.
“We are really looking forward to recognising many of these people at Hartlepool Heroes by celebrating the very worthy nominees and award winners.
“Our thanks go to all of those who took the time to acknowledge people through nominations and our congratulations to all of those shortlisted.
“The event on Thursday, July 7 also marks a very special milestone in the run up to Hartlepool being a host port for The Tall Ships Races 2023 as we celebrate our one year countdown until the iconic event returns.”
Denise McGuckin, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Managing Director, added: “We’re absolutely delighted to support Hartlepool Heroes which is being organised by the PFC Trust.
“Hartlepool is a truly remarkable place and every day I see people going above and beyond to help out in their local community.
“This is a great opportunity to celebrate this community spirit and I’m delighted so many residents took up the opportunity to nominate someone.”
The 11 Hartlepool Heroes award categories will find a Community Champion, Sports Initiative, Volunteer of the Year, Carer of the Year, Young Adult Carer of the Year, Young Carer of the Year, Green Community Champion, Healthcare Hero, Teacher of the Year, Lifetime Achievement and a People’s Choice winner.
