Durham Women FC are throwing their weight behind The PFC Trust’s UChangeLives initiative - by holding a special auction of one-off match-worn shirts to raise funds for the charity.
The Hartlepool-based charity are urging everyone to ‘get up and give’ this September after launching the UChangeLives campaign - which encourages individuals to raise funds to support the PFC Trust’s work in the community.
Alternatively sports clubs, community groups or charitable organisations can choose to raise funds on a 50/50 split, with 50 per cent going back to help the group’s fundraising efforts.
And Durham are doing their bit by putting a number of match-worn shirts from the 2022/23 season up for auction.
The shirts available include a number of the club’s black away shirts, which were worn in the memorable victory away at Everton and cup clash at Aston Villa among others.
Each match shirt available was worn by the corresponding player during the entire 2022/23 campaign and, in most cases, are also signed by the players.
The black away shirts were not available for retail purchase last season, so these really are one-of-a-kind, collectors items.
Meanwhile, a number of the club’s 2022/23 warm-up shirts - which bear The PFC Trust logo on the front - are also available to bid on.
These were again worn by the first team squad throughout last season, and are signed by the entire Durham Women squad.
The auction will be conducted by MatchWornShirt, and will begin at 3pm on Saturday, September 23.
The auction will conclude on Saturday, September 30.
Monies collected from the auction will be put back into the local community by the PFC Trust, just as it has done on a huge scale since it was founded in 2019 by Frances Connolly.
Frances said: “We are delighted that Durham Women are auctioning off the shirts – and some of them have the PFC Trust logo on too!
“It is a fantastic gesture and we are proud to partner up with such a lovely football club as they strive forward.
“Thank you Durham Women for joining in with #getupandgive. It is a campaign that is not necessarily just about giving money. It could be about giving your expertise, time or whatever it is that you have, and share it.
“We would like to change lives for people, but everything you give, or share, can help somebody else to raise money. The Durham shirts, like so many other people helping us this month, is ensuring that we can put more back into the community.”
If you want to support the campaign without taking part in an activity, you can still be involved by texting ‘UCHANGELIVES’ to 70580 to make a one-off donation of £5.00. Every donation goes a long way to support the PFC Trust.
